Credits

It's false to believe a high technology company can get started without the help & support of others. Virtually every technology must make use of some open source projects and build on the work of others. It seems unfair to millions of contributions to use the work without giving credit where credit is due.

DataTables

DataTables is a plug-in for the jQuery Javascript library. It is a highly flexible tool, built upon the foundations of progressive enhancement, that adds all of these advanced features to any HTML table.

PHP

The Lakebed app is written in PHP as is WordPress, the Lakebed.io website, and many things on the internet.

MariaDB

The Lakebed app first & foremost uses MariaDB as the back-end storage. Lakebed has been confirmed to work on MySQL. The future Lakebed will be able to run on MongoDB, CouchDB, and more.

Undraw

1.) Open-source illustrations for any idea you can imagine and create.
2.) A constantly updated design project with beautiful SVG images that you can use completely free and without attribution.
All of the beautiful vector graphics on the website came from Undraw.

Application development is done on a local Apache server and app.lakebed.io uses Apache.

A free and open-source operating system for various devices, based on the Android mobile platform.
Lakebed staff use Lineage OS on their phones.

Debian

Debian is a free operating system (OS) for your computer. An operating system is the set of basic programs and utilities that make your computer run.
Lakebed app development is primarily done on Debian servers and laptops.

Ubuntu

Ubuntu is an open source, debian-based, operating system that runs from the desktop, to the cloud, to all your internet connected things.

VirtualBox

VirtualBox is a powerful virtualization product for enterprise and home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.
Lakebed relies on VirtualBox servers to run an enterprise firewall, a Git server, and many more.

Geany

Geany is a powerful, stable and lightweight programmer’s text editor that provides tons of useful features without bogging down your workflow. It runs on Linux, Windows and MacOS is translated into over 40 languages, and has built-in support for more than 50 programming languages.

Linux

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991.
Both Debian and Android are built on Linux making Lakebed heavily reliant on the contributions of the Linux community.

SQLite

SQLite is a C-language library that implements a small, fast, self-contained, high-reliability, full-featured, SQL database engine. SQLite is the most used database engine in the world. SQLite is built into all mobile phones and most computers and comes bundled inside countless other applications that people use every day.

GIT

Git is a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency.
Lakebed uses Git for version control, code backup, and syncing development across multiple devices. Lakebed also uses Git to automatically push updates to app.lakebed.io that then updates all app installations.

Peppermint OS (Debian)

The notion that in order to use, enjoy and be proficient with Linux is that you will need uber-geek hacking skills is completely False. And, this is just the stigma surrounding Linux that needs to be erased once and for all with Peppermint. There hasn’t been one person we have shown Peppermint OS to who hasn’t understood how to operate it as a desktop environment by just putting it in front of them and turning it on.

JQuery

jQuery is a fast, small, and feature-rich JavaScript library. It makes things like HTML document traversal and manipulation, event handling, animation, and Ajax much simpler with an easy-to-use API that works across a multitude of browsers. With a combination of versatility and extensibility, jQuery has changed the way that millions of people write JavaScript.
Lakebed uses jQuery for DataTables.js

DropZone JS

DropzoneJS is an open source library that provides drag'n'drop file uploads with image previews. It’s lightweight, doesn't depend on any other library and is highly customizable.
The Lakebed app uses DropZone to handle file uploads.

Sheet JS

Parser and writer for various spreadsheet formats. Pure-JS cleanroom implementation from official specifications, related documents, and test files. Emphasis on parsing and writing robustness, cross-format feature compatibility with a unified JS representation, and ES3/ES5 browser compatibility back to IE6.
Lakebed uses SheetJS to convert Excel sheets to CSV before uploading. Parsing Excel files on a Linux server can be quite challenging so the process is offloaded to users browsers.

PHP Mailer

A full-featured email creation and transfer class for PHP. Probably the world’s most popular code for sending email from PHP! Used by many open-source projects: WordPress, Drupal, 1CRM, SugarCRM, Yii, Joomla! and many more
app.lakebed.io uses PHPMailer to send emails from all, distributed, Lakebed installations.

WordPress

WordPress is open source software you can use to create a beautiful website, blog, or app.
The Lakebed website is built using WordPress and Lakebed uses WordPress for some internal tools.

Arvid Kahl

Arvid co-founded, bootstrapped, and sold FeedbackPanda.com, an online teacher productivity SaaS company, with his partner Danielle Simpson. Arvid writes on The Bootstrapped Founder because bootstrapping is a desirable, value- and wealth-generating way of running a company, and still many people shy away from it.

Reading Arvid’s writing has been extremely motivational and Arvid has provided a lot of free support via Twitter.

Rachel Maissan

Rachel made the lakebed.io website and reviews & contributes to application content. Rachel is an experienced teacher and learning designer. She took a break from classroom teaching in 2013 to pursue a passion for words, gaining a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing. Since then, she has published several articles and resources for educators as well as helping online start-ups produce copy that is correct, clear, and on message.
